About Me

Hi, I’m Molly Martin, licensed Speech Language Pathologist and Owner of Steel Valley Speech & Language. I graduated from with my B.A. in Communication Sciences & Disorders from Baldwin Wallace University in 2017 and earned my M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology from BW in 2019. In addition to seeing private practice clients, I currently work with students ages 3-5 in preschool programs across three school districts in Ashtabula County. I absolutely love working with kids and families to help support them in reaching their goals and help them to develop functional communication skills.

I have a wide range of clinical experiences with a variety of ages, populations, and settings – both in Ohio and internationally. In graduate school, I had the amazing opportunity to travel to Zambia, Africa to provide speech and language services to children abroad and to collaborate with professionals in Zambia as well. In addition to that, I've done therapy in clinics, public schools, preschools, in homes, daycares, and via teletherapy. I've worked in urban, rural, and suburban communities with children 15 months to age 21+. I have experience working with kids with both developmental and physical disabilities that may affect speech and language. I also frequently work with kids experiencing a variety of speech sound delays and disorders (i.e. articulation, phonology, apraxia, etc.). From "late-talkers" to autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, and other diagnoses, I work with a wide range of clients and tailor therapy to meet their individualized needs. I love getting to know each child and the things that make them unique! Each kid brings their own set of strengths and skills, and they are constantly teaching me something new.

I am a proud native of Warren, Ohio, but have lived and worked in the Greater Cleveland area for the past 8 years. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to bring my services back to this area which will always be "home" to me.

A Quick Note...

Does your child attend one of the districts that I (Miss Molly) work in? If your child is in PK-12th grade in the Jefferson Area Local, Grand Valley Local, or PV Local School Districts in Ashtabula County and you are interested in private speech services, I will happily refer you to one of my SLP colleagues in your area! While I would love to work with your child, there are some rules that don't allow me to see students privately who attend the districts in which I am employed due to a potential conflict of interest. Thanks for understanding -- I am confident that you will love the recommended speech language pathologists in your area.

My Philosophy

I strive to ensure that my therapy services are neurodiversity affirming and client centered. What does that mean? Great question! This means that I value what makes each child unique, and I use their strengths and interests as a foundation of therapy. My therapy may be described as relationship-centered care, as I prioritize connection with each child I work with over "compliance" to complete therapy tasks. With all of my clients, but especially with my littlest clients (ages 1 - 5+), I take a child-led, play-based approach, as children learn best through play. I honor all modalities and intents to communicate, whether it be through words, sign language, gestures, or AAC. I presume competence in all of my clients, meaning I view each child as having the capacity to think, learn, and understand. I will adjust the types / levels of support I provide to help each child meet their goals. I love working with families and supporting parents along their child's communication journey.
